Launch Agent

Welcome to the guide for launching your own BioAgent on the Bio Protocol.

Applications will be opening soon: We will shortly start accepting applications for new BioAgents. All submissions will be added to our candidate pool and reviewed by the team as time permits. Start thinking about what you would like to launch.

1. Introduction: What is a BioAgent?

BioAgents are autonomous, AI-powered agents designed to execute specific tasks within the scientific research and development lifecycle. They act as decentralized researchers, analysts, and operators, integrating the power of AI with the transparent and interoperable infrastructure of web3.

By launching a BioAgent, you are not just creating a tool; you are creating a new, independent project within the Bio Protocol ecosystem. Each agent can be launched with its own token, governance, and business model, allowing you to build a community and a self-sustaining economy around your creation.

Who is this for?

Launching a BioAgent is for anyone who wants to build and deploy an AI-powered tool for the advancement of science, including:

  • Developers & AI Researchers: Who want to build novel, open-source scientific agents.

  • Scientists & Domain Experts: Who want to turn a body of research into an interactive, intelligent knowledge base.

  • Entrepreneurs: Who want to build a business around a specialized, automated scientific service.

Value Proposition

BioAgents represent a fundamental shift in how science is done. By launching an agent, you can:

  • Democratize Access to Research: Build a tool that can act as a tireless, expert research assistant, available to anyone in the world.

  • Create a Verifiable Knowledge Base: When an agent operates on-chain, its actions and findings are recorded on a transparent, immutable ledger, helping to combat the reproducibility crisis.

  • Build a Sustainable Economic Model: BioAgents can earn revenue by charging fees for their services, creating a direct economic incentive to build useful, open-source scientific tools.

2. Choose Your Launch Path

There are two pathways to launch a BioAgent on the Bio Protocol, designed to accommodate both technical and non-technical creators.

Path 1: Bring Your Own Code (Developer-Focused)

This pathway is for developers and teams who have the technical expertise to build and deploy their own custom BioAgent. If you have your own code, architecture, and a clear plan for your agent's function, this is the path for you.

Path 2: Use a Bio-Generated Template (Simplified)

This pathway is designed to be much more accessible for scientists and domain experts who may not have a background in software development. With this option, you provide the scientific expertise, and we provide the technical framework.

The process is simple:

  1. Provide Your Credentials: Share your scientific background and area of expertise.

  2. Curate Manuscripts: Submit a list of curated manuscripts that represent the core knowledge base for your agent.

  3. We Build the Agent: The Bio team will process the manuscripts to create a Knowledge Graph (KG) and build a new BioAgent based on that KG.

3. Pre-Launch Guide: Preparing for a Successful Launch

A successful launch is a thoughtful launch. This section provides a checklist of the key items you need to prepare before you can launch your BioAgent.

Building Your Narrative

An agent needs a compelling story to stand out. Before you get lost in the technical details, focus on the narrative that will connect your agent to a real-world purpose.

  • Define Your Agent's Purpose: What problem does it solve? Who is it for?

  • Craft a "Hero" Persona: Give your agent a distinct identity. What is its origin story? What are its quirks?

  • Create Engaging Content: Prepare a content plan for the first few weeks after launch. Use videos, demos, and behind-the-scenes content to build excitement.

Whitepaper & Documentation

Clear documentation is essential for building trust and helping users understand your project.

  • Bio App Page: Prepare all the content for your Bio App page, including your agent's purpose, a roadmap summary, your market hypothesis, and information about your team.

  • FAQ Document: Anticipate the questions your community will have and prepare clear answers.

Defining Your Tokenomics

  • Token Symbol: Choose a ticker symbol for your agent's token.

  • Fundraise Model: For now, all agents will use the "Small Fundraise" model on the Bio Protocol.

Community & Comms Setup

  • Verified Socials: Create an X (formerly Twitter) account and a Discord server for your agent, and ensure they are verified.

  • Wallet Address: Set up a wallet address for your token allocations and operational funds.

4. The Launch Process: A Step-by-Step Guide

The launch process itself is divided into several phases, from the initial application to the post-launch support.

Phase 1: Application

  • Submit Your Application: Fill out the initial application form, providing your agent concept and builder background.

  • Initial Vetting: The Bio Protocol team will review your application to determine if you will move to the next phase.

Phase 2: Pre-Launch Readiness

  • Complete the Checklist: Work through all the "Must-Have" items on the pre-launch checklist, including setting up your Bio App page, verifying your social channels, and submitting your technical details.

  • Team Review: The Bio Protocol team will review your checklist and your agent to ensure it is production-ready.

Phase 3: Launch

  • Launchpad Listing: Once approved, your agent will be listed on the Bio Protocol Launchpad.

  • Community Engagement: Participate in marketing and community engagement to drive interest in your sale.

  • Token Generation: At the end of a successful sale, your agent's token will be generated and distributed to participants.

5. Post-Launch Success: Managing Your Project

Launching your BioAgent is just the beginning. The long-term success of your project depends on your ability to deliver on your promises, engage your community, and continuously improve your agent. This section provides a guide to navigating the post-launch landscape.

Executing on Your Roadmap

A clear roadmap with achievable milestones is crucial for maintaining community trust and momentum.

  • Set Clear Goals: Define what success looks like for your agent in the short, medium, and long term.

  • Report Progress: Regularly communicate your progress against your roadmap. Transparency is key.

  • Unlock bio/acc Rewards: The Bio Protocol offers milestone-based incentives in the form of $BIO tokens. By hitting critical R&D milestones, you can unlock these rewards to further fund your development.

Engaging Your New Community

Your token holders are your most valuable asset. Keeping them engaged is essential for long-term growth.

  • Open Communication: Provide regular updates through platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Discord, and Mirror.

  • Listen to Feedback: Create channels for your community to provide feedback, suggest new features, and report bugs.

  • Incentivize "Yapping": Encourage your community to create content about your agent. The BioXP system rewards users for "yapping" about ecosystem projects, which can help amplify your message.

Sustainable Funding Through Trading Volume

The Bio Protocol V2 is designed to provide a continuous stream of revenue for your project, directly tied to its success.

  • The 1% Trading Fee: A 1% fee is applied to all secondary market trades of your agent's token.

  • 70/30 Split: 70% of this fee goes directly to your project's treasury, providing a sustainable source of funding for ongoing development. The remaining 30% goes to the Bio Protocol treasury.

  • A Virtuous Cycle: By executing on your roadmap and engaging your community, you can drive interest and trading volume, which in turn increases your project's revenue.

Enhancing and Upgrading Your Agent

A successful BioAgent is not a static product; it should evolve and improve over time.

  • Iterate Based on Feedback: Use community feedback to identify areas for improvement and prioritize new features.

  • Expand the Knowledge Graph: For agents based on a Knowledge Graph, continuously seek out new, high-quality manuscripts to expand and refine its expertise.

  • Explore New Integrations: Look for opportunities to integrate your agent with other tools and services in the Bio Protocol ecosystem.
